Dear Women of the North Pacific Conference,

Greetings from your Women Ministries Board!  September 1st is here and kids are demanding what they MUST have for school, relatives are asking what your holiday plans are and pretty soon the garden will need to trimmed, so it must be time to RETREAT! Before you leave, we need to share some quick news:

WM Fall Retreat. There’s still time to register; the deadline is September 14.  If you like the convenience of online registration, you can take care of that right now at http://2011npcwomensretreat.eventbrite.com/ Otherwise, download your registration form from the retreat page on our website: www.npc-cwm.org and mail it in. While you’re on the Retreat page, find out what fun activities and great breakouts are offered.

We have lots of new breakouts, but one we’d like to highlight is a project from one of our teenagers, Elisabeth Eastman. She gave us the idea to kick off our Compassion, Mercy & Justice Project. We are asking women to give us their ideas to share and at retreat we will have a drop-in session for all women to examine ideas that might work at their church. Got an idea? Contact Bev Eads hemmy4now@aol.com. One project that Elisabeth will be doing is putting toiletry bags together for homeless women & children. She needs help with toiletry items. If you’d like to bring an item or two, she needs: toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, washcloths, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, combs, & nail clippers.

If you are attending the Fall Retreat, Kathy Stewart is looking for hospitality volunteers to do odd jobs such as greeters, ushers, working at the registration desk, ect. Please contact her, she could really use the help. mom-kathy@comcast.net, or 360-754-0061. Thanks!

Faith & Outreach Grant (F&O) Raffle at retreat.  May we ask for your assistance in pulling together some gift baskets?  Maybe your church would donate sports tickets or a quilt?  This raffle provides the funding for the F&O Grant, which is designed to give seed money to new or expanding ministries in your church or community that reflect the vision of Women Ministries which is to Advance the Kingdom of God.  Theme baskets donated last year included a Grandma basket, Spa basket, Coffee basket, and a Book & Food basket. We’ve also raffled a handmade quilt, a weekend condo, scrapbooking supplies, Seattle Sounder tickets and more.  If you can help the F&O Grant ministry with a raffle donation, please send Nancy Boyd a quick note at nboyd95@yahoo.com or call her at 425-747-4103; or email Maureen Cherry at maureenjcherry@yahoo.com or call her at 425-746-7832. Women Ministries Leadership Connection, September 30, 2011 at Cascades Camp, Lakeside Lodge. Take the next step and equip your ministry team with an interactive training from 1:00-4:00 pm, just before the women's retreat begins. Women leaders and potential leaders from all over the conference will have a chance to learn how to articulate a clear vision that will strengthen their church vision, design a women's ministry that will fit your church women, network with other women leaders, and update or refresh your ministry ideas.
